You've Got The Power: Donate To Volunteer Firefighters with Duracell

Do gloomy headlines, rude telemarketers, the price of gas and dings on all the oranges at the grocery have you down? Well, here's a day brightener:  there are 812,150 Americans out there right now who have willingly volunteered to put their own lives in danger -- to risk death -- just to keep you safe! That's right: according to statistics from the National Volunteer Fire Council, volunteers make up a whopping 71% of the estimated 1,148,100 firefighters in the U.S. And, you can now make a significant contribution to these selfless folks just by buying batteries, through Duracell's "Power Those Who Protect Us" program.

Here's how it works: each time you buy a specially marked pack of CopperTop batteries, Duracell will make a battery donation to a volunteer fire department. Those batteries are necessary to keep communication devices and life-saving equipment up and running. You can even direct your donation to your fire station of choice by visiting the Duracell web site and entering a unique code found on the battery pack.

More information on the "Power Those Who Protect Us" program is available at the Duracell web site  - www.duracell.com  - and from the National Volunteer Fire Council -  www.nvfc.org.
